From the factory, nearly every production passenger car has short, flexible hoses that run from the fixed, hard metal brake tubes to the calipers. These OEM hoses use a polymeric inner hose to transmit brake fluid pressure from the brake tubes to the caliper. OE manufacturers protect the polymeric tube by wrapping it with thick rubber coating. Under hard braking, these rubber hoses expand to the additional fluid volume causing 'sponginess' or felt by the driver as a soft or mushy brake pedal.
PRO-RS Stainless Steel Brake Hose (SSBH) incorporates a low-compliance Teflon inner hose and instead of covering the Teflon with overmolded rubber, a woven braid of stainless steel lines is used for protection. Use of low-compliance Teflon result in faster response of the brake system and the stainless steel lines further improve the hose's rigidity (less expansion) under pressure. This sums up to a firmer and more responsive brake pedal.
This is the same brake hose technology used in F1/F3 and JGTC.
PRO-RS SSBH is also furnished with POLYOLEFIN sleeves at the joint between hose and metal fittings which prevents corrosion and reduce hose flexing at the joint. This increases the SSBH reliability and lifetime and comes with fittings and brackets for easy installation.
